Educational Resources
Generally, Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic are fairly reliable in learning about medical conditions, even beyond allergy and asthma.
A good place to start is the AAAAI, a professional group of allergists. For more information on allergic conditions:
Allergy & Asthma
- American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology
A professional group of allergists. - American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology
A professional allergist’s organization, with a bit more practical slant. - Allergy and Asthma Network/Mothers of Asthmatics
Probably the best lay resource for allergy and asthma. - American Lung Association
Maryland Chapter - Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America
Excellent lay organization - National Jewish Medical and Research Center
National Jewish Medical and Research Center is a very large respiratory medical center in Denver.
Food Allergy
- The Food Allergy Network
A very well-edited site by lay organization; contains excellent practical advice.
For Kids
- Allergy and Asthma Network/Mothers of Asthmatics
- American Academy of Pediatrics
- Food Allergy Network for Kids
- Food Allergy Network for Teens

Pollen
- Maryland Pollen and Spore Report
Sue Kosisky at Walter Reed Medical Center is a national expert on pollen; she’s only a few miles “upwind”, and we compare our data every year. Most websites advertising pollen given only computer generated forecasts; true readings can only done by hand. There are only a handful who read pollen in Maryland. Like politics, all pollen is local.
